We are the Amazing Awsome Activity committee. We organize all kinds of CRAZY and FUN and FABULOUS and OUTRAGEOUS aktivities for all members of pyrus. Like the yearly pubquiz and bier cantus. But best of all, we are the most gezellige committee of pyrus. If you’re called Wouter this committee is for you! Since we have at least one Wouter in the committee at all times.

The almanac comes out twice every five years with information about everything and everyone connected to our fantastic association. We spend our time being creative in Adobe InDesign and Illustrator and contacting everyone we want to be eternalized in the book!

De Carrière Informatieavond (CIA) wordt één keer per jaar georganiseerd. Op deze avond komen oud-studenten van de bachelor opleiding ‘Bodem, Water, Atmosfeer’ en de master opleiding ‘Earth and Environment’ vertellen over hun werk. Op deze manier krijgen de studenten een idee wat voor soort werk ze later zouden kunnen gaan doen, en op welke manieren ze daar terecht kunnen komen. Daarnaast is er op deze avond ook mogelijkheid om te netwerken en vragen te stellen aan de sprekers tijdens de pauze en afsluitende borrel. Het is een leerzame en nuttige avond, maar ook zeker erg gezellig! Daarnaast geldt deze avond ook voor SAC.

The Evaluation Committee is responsible for the essence from which Pyrus originates. Do not think about fire, but about our study: one thing all of our members have in common. The EvaluatCie is an important committee, since it ensures the quality of our education. The EvaluatCie is responsible for the evaluation of the courses in our study programs, preferably in the presence of cookies!

After a full year of studying and activities, most people still feel like they have not connected enough with their Pyrus-peers just yet. Hence, the ExcursCie organises a Pyrus summertrip every second summer holiday. In 2025, we are heading east to visit Bohemia and the Tatra mountains for 2 full weeks! Be sure to join us there, but be careful: you might find yourself enjoying the vacation so much that you can’t resist organising the ExcursCie 2027!

The FamCie organizes the parent’s day and siblings day! During these days your family will attend lectures and do activities like auger, go to the world soil museum, view the campus, etc.

Hi, we are the FoodCie, we are the uttermost delicious committee, and you may know us from our yell: “Chaos en stress, succes met de fles FoooooooooooodCie” that we chant very loudly at any possibility or as the committee who always wins THE GAME. The last few years our committee is increasingly drawn towards the beautiful vegetable aubergine. Does this have to do with the fact that aubergine contains nicotine (only 0.01 %)? We will never know. What we do know is that our activities are a blast, and we really enjoy cooking for all of you!

Every period we organize the most fabulous activities, a few of our yearly traditions include the Christmas dinner, a BBQ, a pancake evening, cooking at the first year’s weekend and providing snacks at the GMM. We always look forward to the tapas evening, where we invite non-FoodCie members of Pyrus to cook something delicious and join our committee, because we believe that, ‘Anyone can cook’ (Chef Auguste Gusteau).

Maybe this will be the year that finally ‘the tides will turn’ and another committee will win the game, which is of course highly doubtful. Anyhow, we hope to see you at our next activity!

The GalaCie organises a fiery prom once every two years.

The GrondboorCie organises the phenomenal Soil Drilling Contest in October every year. The aim is to drill an Edelman auger all the way into the soil as quickly as possible. Many different teams compete in this event, each having their own theme and outfit. Not only SWA-teams compete, but also teams from other studies and from other cities.

If you have a cool and fiery idea, but it doesn’t concern one of our committees, there is the IntegratCie! You can use it’s budget to realise a cool acitivity you came up with.

Heyy, we are the InternetCie, we have brought this baby website into this world and it has eaten a lot of vegetables and has now grown up to be a very mature website. Do you also like our website? Please like and subscribe

The IntroductCie organises the study day during the AID, a BBQ, a first years weekend and another activity for first year students. When the committee is founded, it consists of first year students. These students are second year students at the time of the following AID.

The KasCo consists of two former board members. This committee checks the bookkeeping of the association.

The LexCie is the lecture and excursion committee. We organize all of those lunchlectures you are all so familiar with. We also organize the annual soil profile weekend where we make “lakprofielen” you can hang in your room! Since 2023, we’ve also organized a piezometer workshop where we learn how to place piezometers annually. And sometimes we even organize an entire educational weekend for you!

Hey, wij zijn de meeloopdagcie! Met onze commissie laten we middelbare scholieren zien hoe een dagje van onze studie eruit ziet. We laten zien welke vakken we volgen, wat je van de studie kan verwachten, hoe Wageningen is als studentenstad: Al je vragen kan je deze dag stellen. Loop gezellig een dagje mee! Dit kan een-op-een, maar ook in groepen. Hopelijk tot snel!

We are the OpCie, which stands for Opleidings Commissie (or Programme Committee in English). The OpCie is a group of five students and five teachers that gives advice to the Board of Education on all things related to the BSc Soil, Water, Atmosphere and the MSc Earth and Environment, like the approval of new courses or budget changes. We also work to maintain or even improve the quality of education in BSW and MEE, for example by keeping an eye on the results of the online course evaluations (which you of course always fill in 😉 ). We spend our time doing things like discussing the name change of the study programmes and trying to stop Arnold Moene from getting a burn-out. If you ever have any ideas on how to improve our education, please don’t hesitate to have a chat with us, because we’re always looking for feedback!

The PaparazzCie takes pictures at the fiery Pyrus activities and makes sure that these pictures are published on the Pyrus Flickr.

The PR-Cie works together with the Officer of External Affairs to maintain contact with sponsors. We organise the PRubQuiz and the Sponsor Networking Drinks alongside excursions to visit our sponsors. Thanks to us, Pyrus can organise all of its fiery activities!

Hey little pyromanes, we are the amazing TransPyratCie and organise all sorts of activities that have something to do with sports and games. Join us for the BBB, boardgame night, beerolympics or batavierenrace and be competetive with your friends. Hope to see you at our activities!

The association magazine ‘Vuurwerk’ is published at the end of each period. Our committee ‘Vuurwerk’ is a team of students who come together to write and design articles for the magazine. Vuurwerk includes serious articles on trending topics related to the study domain, but also interesting columns like students on exchange, alumni interviews and exclusive QnA’s from our lecturers. It’s a student magazine after all, so we always have really fun and light-hearted articles about student life as well.

We are the WeekendCie. The funniest ‘serious’ committee ever. We organize the best two weekends every year (approved). A hitchhike weekend and a camping weekend. During the camping weekend we go camping with nice activities 🤩. And for the hitchhike weekend broke students go hitchhiking to a mysterious location. These weekends are a lot of fun yey . So come and join us on these amazing experiences!
